I have put this website together, firstly to advertise my services as a bass guitar player and to bring to peoples attention some of the great players that have inspired me and influenced my playing over the years, in the hope that others may enjoy their work and perhaps benefit from their inspiration in the same way I have.
I was born in Fleetwood in 1963 into a musical family, my father Ken Emery is a jazz clarinet player and pianist well known in the NW of England. Piano lessons at an early age did not amount to much, my interest in music was initially fired by the punk scene of the late seventies, from there bands like Eddie and the Hot Rods, The Jam, and then rock bands like The Who. All bands with great bass players!! I have been a semi pro musician on and off since 1982 (in between qualifying as a Chartered Management Account, my day job), playing with lots of different local bands playing everything from rock music to soul and funk. My current gigging band is The Blue Pig Orchestra.
I addition to live work I have been involved in a number of recording projects including projects with Jeff White (Happy Daize and The Good Machine) and John (Wardi) Ward from the Oliver Dawson Saxon (I will include some examples on this page). I am currently studying for my RGT exams to get into teaching and study jazz to improve my musical vocabulary.
I like to think I have a professional attitude towards my bass playing, I can cover every style of music and specialise in playing fretless bass, reading charts, etc, no problem. If you think I can help give me a call 07921 315524.
